Andrea Marquant, Ed.M.
Arlington Tutoring is owned by Andrea Marquant, Ed.M. Andrea has worked as a Reading and Learning Specialist in the Boston area for over ten years, serving children in grades four through twelve. Andrea received her Bachelor's degree in English and French from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Andrea continued her studies at Harvard University, where she taught reading and writing in the Jeanne Chall Reading Lab. Andrea earned a Master's degree in Education from Harvard in 1998, specializing in language acquisition and literacy development. Andrea also holds Massachusetts certification as a Professional Teacher of Reading for all levels, as well as English Teacher certification for grades 5-8 and 8-12.
In 2003, Andrea was awarded a two-year appointment to the Center for Reading and Language Research at Tufts University. From 2003 - 2005, Andrea taught reading as part of an international research team headed by Dr. Maryanne Wolf. During that time Andrea also served as Research Coordinator for the African-American Children's Language and Literacy Project. Ms. Marquant has been a guest lecturer at the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development, and has presented her work at national and international conferences of child development experts from multiple disciplines, including linguistics, psychology, reading, neuroscience and education.
Arlington Tutoring is a private reading and learning clinic in Arlington Center, serving families from Arlington and the surrounding communities of Lexington, Belmont, Cambridge, Winchester and Newton. Tutoring is available after school and throughout the summer for students in grades 4-12.
