College Planning Program

Take the stress out of the college application process!

This program is designed to benefit prospective college students and their families by simplifying the complex and often intimidating college application process. Rather than procrastinating or becoming overwhelmed when applying to college, your child will learn how to prioritize required tasks and budget his or her time in order to meet admissions deadlines confidently and on schedule.

Program Description

In this program for high school juniors and seniors, students receive guidance, support and instruction in how to apply to one or more colleges. Students will learn to:

  •   narrow down college choices
  •   keep applications manageable and organized
  •   understand Early Action, Early Decision and Regular admissions
  •   brainstorm meaningful topics for college essays
  •   create supplemental essays when required
  •   plan and write short essays and personal statements
  •   edit essay and application drafts
  •   present extracurricular activities and accomplishments
  •   complete a well-crafted essay in time for admissions deadlines
  •   evaluate financial aid resources

The College Planning Program consists of 10 one-hour sessions scheduled at a student's convenience. Sessions can begin as early as the spring of junior year or may start in the summer preceding senior year. Work on applications usually continues into the fall. Tuition for the program is $950, which includes a private 30-minute consultation with parents to discuss goals and plans for each student. A $50 discount is offered to current or returning Arlington Tutoring families.

The College Planning Program may be repeated and/or combined with test preparation courses at a reduced package rate.
